Reginald John Buckland


TKS 1906 - 1912

2ND LIEUTENANT

Reginald came to TKS from Gulgong and was in School House before Broughton House where he was House Captain 1910-12. He was School Captain and a Lieutenant in the Cadet Corps. In 1912 he was awarded the Land Class Scholarship and the Burkitt Shield for two years 1911 and 1912. Captain of Athletics 1911 and Rugby 1911,1912 he received a Rugby Honours Cap 1910 with redates for 1911 and 1912. He was a member of the 1st XV 1908-1912 and the AAGPS 1st XV 1911-1912. He won the Buckland Cup for Boxing 1911. He enlisted 18 December 1914 and was in the 4th Field Ambulance in service at Gallipoli. He transferred to the 8th Light Horse Regiment 8 December 1915 He was wounded on the hand in not long after. He was seconded to 3rd Light Horse Regiment. Machine Gun Squadron 23 July 16 and died of wounds following a shot to the chest 9 August 1916. At the time he was a 2nd Lieutenant. His parents donated Memorial Windows in the Chapel in his memory.
