1939-1945 Australian Service Medal awarded to Wallace Washington Brown. Obverse: crowned profile of King George VI facing left. Around the profile is the inscription GEORGIVS VI D:G:BR:OMN:REX ET INDIAE IMP. (George VI by the Grace of God, King of Great Britain and Emperor of India) Reverse: The Australian Coat of Arms with the inscription The Australian Service Medal 1939-45. The 3.2cm ribbon has a wide fawn coloured central stripe bounded by a very narrow red stripe with a navy strip on the left and light blue strip on the right. These colours all pay heed to the three branches of the Armed Services.
