World War II 60th Anniversary Medal

Gold coloured alloy medallion produced by the Australian Mint to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the end of World War II in 2005. The obverse shows the Commonwealth coat of arms and 'WORLD WAR II SERVICE TO AUSTRALIA'. The reverse shows a stylised map of Australia with patterns representing the navy (sea), Army (land) and Air force (sky). The medallion was presented in a box with a pamphlet explaining the significance of the design. Presented to Dorothy the widow of David Maughan in 2005.
