Sam Drummond Letters 1

Samuel Gordon (Sam) Drummond was a boarder in Macarthur House (1942-46) from "Yirri" Lockhardt in New South Wales. His father William Gordon was an Old Boy (TKS 1911-14). Sam's borther Peter also attended TKS (1943-48). Sam was a Cadet Lieutenant in the Cadet Corps and a member of the 1946 Senior Athletics Team as a Division, 1 Mile runner. He wrote a series of letters back home while he was in Macarthur House which were donated to the School by his daughter Tana. Letter writing was an activity encouraged on a Sunday Afternoon although Sam seems to write whenever he ahs an opportunity to. Cricket, taking a swim, going to the gym and watching the river rise in the ongoing rain are the items of news in this letter. The ongoing rain was a record since 1938 according to Sam however newspaper articles aren't quite so optimistic. A visit to the "pictures" saw Sam and two others watch "Sub(marine) Raider" (see link) about the attack on Pearl Harbour. Sam joined the School Band and didn't forget to ask about the sheep at home and the new pups.
