Observer's and Air Gunner's Log Book


Henry Stevenson (Bob) McMaster (TKS 1933-39) Royal Canadian Air Force Observers and Air Gunner's Log Book. Blue cloth covered log book. Members of the RAAF trained in Canada as part of the Empire Air Training Scheme (EATS) 22/3 1943 Harry qualified as an Air Bomber (Armaments), 5/3/1943, now Sergeant McMaster as an Air Bomber Special Group and on 19 March 1944 he was awarded a Path Finder Award Badge. The Log records his training hours and armament familiarisation requirements and includes raids over Germany. In 1943 he was a member of 90 Squadron out of Tuddenham. In December 1943 he retrained on Lancasters before transferring to 7 Squadron as an Air Bomber flying out of Oakington Cambridge from January 9 1944. The letter sent to his Mother from the Wing Commander of 7 Squadron dated 26th March 1944 informing her that her son went missing on a sortie during the evening of 22/23rd of March is glued into the log book. The back page and cover of the Log Book summaries his flying career.
