Manning Medals 2
1914-1915 Star, instituted in December 1918 is for person who fought in a specified theatre of war against the Central Powers between 5 August 1914- 31 December 1915. Guy Manning was in Rabaul when the Germans surrendered and was thus eligible for this service medal. The four pointed star is bronze, with a crown at the top. The obverse has crossed swords, overlaid with an oak wreath. The cypher of King George V is on the wreath. A scroll bearing the legend 1914-15 is centrally placed across the crossed blades. The reverse could be inscribed with the recipients name. The ribbon, attached by a loop was red, white and blue, the colours of the Empire.
