Gallipoli Commemorative medallion


Circular Bronze medallion surmounted by the Queen's crown. Obverse: relief of Simpson and his donkey carrying a wounded man, a laurel wreath, the date 1915 and the word ANZAC. Reverse: a map of Australia and New Zealand with Southern Cross, fern fronds and the name of the individual: AD Mitchell. The ANZAC Medallion was issued by the Australian Government c 1967 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Gallipoli landing and was given to the veteran or next of kin. Presented in purple velvet box.
