Boer War Honour Roll


Granite with gilded lettering and gothic styled carved and turned wooden surrounds for the Boer War Honour Roll. There were 5 Old Boys who lost their lives serving in the South African War 1899-1902 out of the 72 known to have served. AC Ebsworth TKS 1886-90 died 24 July 1900 (KSM October 1900), GB Forster TKS 1870-75 died 10 December 1901 (KSM March 1902), ALL King TKS 1877-83 died 19 February 1902 (KSM March 1902), DF Miller TKS 1895-97 died 29 March 1902 (KSM March 1902) and WJS Rundle TKS 1887-92 died 30 July 1901. (KSM September 1901). The Honour Roll was unveiled by Brigadier-General Finn during a Chapel service preceeding Prize Day 9 June 1902. The designer, architect Mr F Moorehouse supervised the manufacture of the board without any cost to the Old Boy's Union. Family of the deceased were invited to sit in the northern side of the Chancel doring the unveiling. (KSM September 1902 Frontispiece to this issue is a print showing the memorial)
