95mm Lanz Minenwerfer Description Muzzle loading light trench mortar originally built on a steel cradle which is attached to a circular steel baseplate. The mortar has a locking handle attached on the right side used to elevate and depress the smoothbore barrel. Grab handles are located on the rim of the baseplate for transportation. The mortar presented to the School is on a wooden base. Serial Number on the base of barrel 1330. Other marking Parramatta SSO Sydney EEF, AUS WAR REC OS Melbourne Defence Dep't 3100 EEF

History / Summary German Lanz mortar issued to Turkish Army units based in Palestine during the First World War. The mortar was captured by the Australian Light Horse in Palestine.
